Despite old age and failing eyesight, he remained faithful to prayer, especially the Rosary, and joyfully fulfilled his daily responsibilities.
When informed that he would soon be executed, he peacefully responded: "Then let us go, if this is God's will." His joyful acceptance of martyrdom reflected a lifetime of trust in God and humble service. He gave his life for Christ during the Spanish Civil War on 25 July 1936, becoming an enduring model of quiet holiness.
